Meet Orlie

Born in Israel and living in Paris for over 20 years, living and feeling Paris through my veins but also threw my studies in the Sorbonne university , I hold an advanced degree in Art History from the Sorbonne university and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and French from Bar-Ilan University, and certified as guide-lecturer by the prestigious CNAM (Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers-Paris).

I have the privilege to serve part-time as an official guide of the Museum of Jewish Art and History (MAHJ), located in the heart of Le Marais—the center of Jewish life and cultural préservation in France.

Through my work, I have the privilege of sharing the rich traditions and vibrant culture of French Jewry, while also addressing and dispelling harmful stereotypes, especially when guiding student groups. I see this not only as a job, but as a mission—to educate, to foster understanding, and to stand against antisemitism. I truly belive that when we know history, we begin to understand—and with that understanding comes the responsibility not to look away from the past.

Many people mistakenly believe that the Jewish presence in France began only in the 19th century, but in fact, it dates back over a thousand years. My goal is to help visitors discover this long, complex, and resilient history—one that is too often overlooked.

The community suffered unimaginable loss during World War II, when much of Jewish life in France was destroyed. But thanks to the arrival of Sephardic Jews—from North Africa—the post-war years brought renewed vitality to Jewish culture in Paris. Today, the Marais neighborhood once again radiates the spirit, warmth, and identity that made it so unique.

Through  my guided visits, I aim to celebrate the culture, to honor the memory, to teach deepen awareness of the Jewish experience in France—past and present.

As a mother of four, I bring my touch  and strong educational skills to my work. Whether I’m guiding adults, teens, school groups, or multigenerational families, I tailor each tour to be engaging, accessible, and meaningful.
